Conservation Programs Specialist – Surveyor – Ducks Unlimited Canada – Strathmore, Alberta

The Opportunity

36 month term

Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) is looking for confident, energetic and dedicated professional to join our team in Strathmore, AB.

As a member of our habitat conservation team, you are an effective communicator who is able to manage contracts, build positive working relationships with landowners and contractors all while providing on-site construction supervision. You will inspect, design and build water control structures – activities that appeal to you because you love working outdoors.

You are a self-motivated individual who thrives in a fast- paced environment. You are a team player with strong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.

You have demonstrated expertise in project planning and implementation. You are self-motivated, enjoy a complex, changing environment and can manage numerous projects on tight deadlines.

You possess strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Your three years of experience in surveying techniques you an ideal candidate for this position.

Additional Details

Expected term of employment is 36 months
Daytime business hours, Monday to Friday
35 hours per week

Requirements

Post-secondary diploma or degree in engineering technology is required; a degree or diploma in wildlife management, renewable resources, or related field would be an asset.
Willing to work outdoors in inclement weather and to travel to remote locations.
Experience in project management.
Detail-oriented and able to prioritize workload
Excellent problem-solving skills and adaptable to change
Experience with GPS surveying (RTK equipment) and ArcMap is a definite asset.
Ability to communicate both written and oral in a professional manner
Ability to work well independently and also in a team setting while keeping others informed of your progress.
A valid driver’s license is required

The successful candidate will have an affinity to the outdoors, conservation and the world of waterfowl.
