The District of Mission is looking for a self-motivated, responsible and experienced individual to conduct timely accurate reviews and inspections of building plans and construction. Under the supervision and direction of the Senior Building Inspector, reviews and inspections ensure design and materials used during the construction, renovation and alteration processes are compliant with the BC Building Code, specifically Part 9, BC Plumbing Code, Mission’s Zoning Bylaw, municipal inspections, permitting processes and all other municipal bylaws, policies and procedures.

We are looking for an individual who works well as a team member, has a keen critical thinking ability, analytical and problem solving skills, and is focused on high quality outputs and results. A well-regarded customer service approach and the ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders are essential for this position.

Along with your carpentry ticket/TQ or certificate in building or construction technology, you will have Level I certification from the Building Official’s Association of BC (BOABC) plus 2 years municipal experience in an inspectional or regulatory capacity, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, you will be working to attain certification to RBO status. You will also have a valid Class 5 BC driver’s license and a clean driving record.
