Applications are invited for the Regular Full-Time position of Building Inspector to work in the Development Services and Economic Development Department. Under the direction of the Chief Building and License Inspector, this technical and regulatory position involves the inspection of structural, architectural, plumbing, landscaping, civil, and safety installations in all types of new construction and alterations to existing structures, to ensure that the work complies with all codes and regulations.

RATE OF PAY:          Pay Grade 27: $36.58 to $39.05 per hour
HOURS OF WORK:    35 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Graduation from a program at an Institute of Technology in building technology or completion of Grade 12 supplemented by construction experience at the journeyman level in one of the building trades and a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Building Inspector/Plan Checker in a City/Municipality with primary focus on Part 3 complex buildings is desired.

A current Level 2 or Level 3 Building Official certification from the Building Officials’ Association of B.C. and a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License are required. Details of the position and its requirements can be found in the job description at the following link:
