Project Coordinator

The Waterfront Regeneration Trust (WRT) is seeking a project coordinator to support its exciting and demanding work program including trail development.

Qualified candidates will possess superior organizational and communications skills, and have experience coordinating multi-faceted projects. They will know how to use their knowledge of technology in particular with Apple-based products, social media and the website, to efficiently produce and publish and disseminate a variety of information related to the WRT initiatives and the Waterfront Trail.

Preference will be given to candidates who:

Demonstrate experience and/or knowledge of the various file formats and protocols to create digital and paper-based maps;
Possess academic credentials in a relevant background, for example, tourism, trails development, land-use planning, environmental studies, active transportation planning, engineering;
Enjoy cycling and have a practical understanding for what is needed to create well-signed cycling/pedestrian routes and supporting resources.

Knowledge and experience using the Waterfront Trail. Owing a bike and experience in cycle tourism will be assets. Some cycling will be required.

The job is based in Toronto (the office is located in Etobicoke) but demands frequent travel. Candidates must have an excellent driving record, own a car OR be eligible to rent a vehicle for business purposes (minimum age 25).

The Project Coordinator is be a part-time contract position for four-days per week, 7 hours per day commencing September 2015 and ending March 31, 2016 with a possible renewal for the following year. Applications must be received by email at:

The Waterfront Regeneration Trust (WRT) is a registered charity that has dedicated the past 20 years to the completion, enhancement and promotion of the 1,600 km Great Lakes Waterfront Trail, which connects communities from Quebec to Grand Bend and expected to expand to Sault Ste Marie by 2017 as part of a partnership with Trans Canada Trail. Founded by the Hon. David Crombie, the WRT manages a partnership of 75 communities, conservation authorities, NGOs and community groups who share a vision for a connected, accessible, revitalized waterfront. Since 1992 the WRT has created over 2,000 kilometres of signed cycling and pedestrian routes.
