NS3 is hiring a full-time outreach educator. The outreach educator will work closely with NS3’s Outreach Coordinator to facilitate workshops, assist with activity development and teach NS3 programs.
Job Description:
As an NS3 outreach educator you will deliver NS3 programs to our community. This is a full-time position (35-40 hrs/wk) with flexible hours. NS3 outreach educator duties will include:
Preparing materials for outreach programs;
Delivering NS3 programs to groups of kids and their families;
Training youth leaders (high school students) and volunteers;
Assisting with the development of new activities;
Assisting with web-based outreach (e.g., updating twitter/facebook etc.).
Qualifications:
Have a passion for outreach and teaching science;
Have a strong background in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Math, RMOT, Physics, etc.) or Education – must have successfully completed some university-level science courses;
Be a self-motivated and conscientious person who can work independently and in teams;
Have experience working with kids in a camp or educational setting;
Be willing and able to work outside with groups of kids in all types of weather;
Be willing to work some evenings/weekends;
Be able to lift up to 35 lbs; and
Be willing to have a criminal background check.
Asset qualifications (not mandatory):
A BSc/BA in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Math, RMOT, Physics, etc.) or Education (with the successful completion of some university science courses);
Experience developing and delivering hands-on science curriculum;
Experience with basic website development and use of social media.
