Overview: This individual will deliver outdoor educational programming for the public at Evergreen Brick Works, with a focus on ecology, arts, shelter building, fire making and cooking. This individual will work on weekends with the potential for occasional shifts throughout the week.
Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging public and private educational programs, primarily outdoor nature-based activities for children and families;
Staffing festivals and special events;
Ensure safe delivery of programs according to Evergreen policies, procedures and training;
Provide a welcoming experience for the general public and clients and act as an ambassador for Evergreen Brick Works;
Communicate a summary of program statistics and experience to supervisor;
Model leadership, team work, and a contagious curiosity about the natural world.

Qualifications:
An ability to guide diverse members of the public, including children and youth, in outdoor educational and recreational activities
Education or experience in children’s environmental education and recreational programming, community engagement and education, youth engagement, and/or community services
Background in Ecology, Biology, Arts, or Environmental Sciences
Comfort working with individuals of different ages, cultures, backgrounds, and abilities
Ability to craft with natural materials including wood and clay, or willingness to learn
Experience with (or willingness to learn) safe use of simple hand tools
Strong initiative to complete projects
Excellent communication skills
Responsible, organized and accountable
A flexible schedule, with the ability to work evenings and weekends
Current standard first aid & CPR training
Complete a successful vulnerable sector police reference check
Assets:
Those who have experience in and demonstrate a commitment to fostering creativity and learning in children
Knowledge of local, organic food and experience cooking outdoors over an open fire
Working conditions:
Able to endure rain and other inclement weather conditions
Working primarily outdoors with a variety of people, including children
Available Monday to Sunday on a part-time basis
Shifts of 4-8 hours
Physical requirements:
Standing for extended periods of time
Lifting heavy objects on a regular basis
Terms of contract:
Part-time, hourly; $12- $14, depending on experience and ability
