Description:
Langley Environmental Partners Society (LEPS) is a non-profit, partnership-driven organization formed in 1993 to protect and restore the natural environment through education, cooperation and action.
We are currently seeking one Interim Education and Outreach Coordinator to assist with the delivery of environmental education and community outreach programs, reporting to the Education Program Coordinator.
Duties will include:
Environmental Education program (November 2015-June 2016)
a. Assisting the Education Coordinator with presentations to school and community groups;
b. Assisting the Education Coordinator with developing communication material to promote education program;
c. Delivering the Stream of Dreams program in Fraser Valley as per agreement with Stream of Dreams Mural Society.
Coordinating all aspects of Grow Healthy Grow Smart, including workshop delivery and report writing as defined in the 2015 Grow Healthy Grow Smart agreement with Township of Langley.
Assisting Education Coordinator and Executive Director with the United Way Food for All Grant workshop delivery and report writing (to March 2016).
Langley Demonstration Garden (July – August 2016)
a. Presentations – Develop and deliver an established kids’ education program including creating lesson plans, teaching, and leading educational activities and craft components;
b. Community Events – Working with Garden Coordinator to assist in hosting public events in the Demonstration Garden (includes some evenings/weekends); Assist with public workshops on topics related to safe home and garden habits;
c. Promotion – assist in promoting garden workshops and management of program registration.
Other duties may include:
Promote secondary school involvement with LEPS;
Assist with the education aspect of the Water Wise and WaterWeeks programs;
Assist with BC Rivers Day Festival and WaterWeeks community events.
Qualifications:
Education: College diploma or university degree in environment, education or related field or equivalent combination of experience.
Experience: Minimum 2-3 years direct experience in program management; teaching and leading programs for children, youth and adults; knowledge of stream ecology, watershed stewardship, and/or other outdoor specializations.

Condition of hire:
Clean Criminal record review
Valid BC Drivers License + access to vehicle
Work schedule: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm/Monday to Thursday/ 64 hours bi-weekly with weekend and evening work when required
Wage: $18.00 per hour
Term: 1 year contract, start date November 12, 2015
