Duties: You will instruct students, facilitate learning and evaluate student progress in the Powerline Technician (Operating Program). You will plan, organize and manage learning activities and resources in classroom and shop settings and will provide academic advising services. You will teach all of the courses outlined in the Powerline Technician (Operating) Plan of Training, including both theory and practical. Instructional topics may include; pole and climbing safety, AC and DC theory, rigging, structures, mobile training, line work, line design and drawing, above and underground systems and specific terminology associated with trade. You will also be required to prepare learner performance reports and prior learning assessments as required by the Department of Advanced Education Skills, as well as other related duties consistent with maintaining quality student-centered instruction.

Qualifications: You must demonstrate knowledge of power line work and its practical application in industry. Knowledge and or experience in classroom management and teaching is preferred. You must possess well developed communication, analytical and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently and effectively as a team member. Your commitment to student success strategies and initiatives is a requirement for this position. The required knowledge and skills would normally have normally been acquired through Interprovincial Journeyperson certificate in Powerline Technician (Operating) with a minimum of six years combined apprenticeship training and recent relevant trade specific industry experience. A Pre-employment Certificate and a Bachelor of Education (Post-secondary or Secondary), teacher training and/or experience teaching at a post-secondary institution will be considered assets.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience in accordance with the College of the North
Atlantic Faculty Collective Agreement.
