Enterprise Database Administrator – Memorial University of Newfoundland – St John’s

 Duties
Under the general supervision of the DBA Team Lead, the successful candidate will participate in the daily operational support of Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases and Oracle’s application servers. Additional responsibilities include the support of a number of MySQL databases. As part of the Enterprise Application Services (EAS) team, the database administrator will support a number of administrative databases, including those for Memorial’s Incident Management and SharePoint. Tasks would include RDBMS software installation and configuration, database performance monitoring, daily operations support, patch maintenance, backup and recovery task and troubleshooting issues. After hours work for some database production tasks as well as participation in an on-call rotation for application support will be required.

Qualifications
Experience (3-5 years) working as a Database Administrator administering enterprise-level relational databases; graduation from a four-year college or university undergraduate degree with major course work in computer science, engineering, or business management; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Experience working with a database query languages such as SQL and/or PLSQL would be an asset. The preferred candidate should have knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle RDBMS and their associated tools. Knowledge of Oracle Fusion Middleware and/or WebLogic, as well as a working knowledge of the Windows and Linux operating systems would be definite assets.
