Primary responsibilities
Develop activities and lessons around ocean and freshwater education.
Work with both Water Rangers team and Ocean Diagnostics team to engage school boards and education-based environmental organizations.
Represent Water Rangers and Ocean Diagnostics at educational, environmental and outdoor learning conferences.
Provide in-person and virtual presentations and training for water quality and microplastic kits.
Collect market research to develop a go-to-market plan to increase our reach and impact.
Celebrate and increase our program reach through social media, impact reporting, events, etc

The ideal candidate
The Education Coordinator has:
A degree in a relevant field (preferably business, science education, sustainability, science communication, environmental science, or similar).
Demonstrate science education and/or business development experience.
Excellent communication, presentation and relationship building skills.
Extremely organized and detail oriented.
Comfortable working with the public, personable, and supportive.
Some Google Suite and WordPress knowledge.
A valid driver’s license and access to a car is a bonus (mileage will be reimbursed at $0.68/km).
Comfortability working in and around water, following water safety protocols.

This is a 6-month contract with the potential to extend
32 hours per week
$22/hr + 3 weeks vacation (pro-rated)
Preference given to Vancouver-based applicants
Some travel and weekend work will be required.
If you use your own computer and phone, you will receive a $100/month work-from-home stipend.
This position is based out of B.C. Our teams work on trust and independence, so as a team member you are expected to:
Work well independently. Manage your own schedule based on weekly priorities we set together and report to the core team using our project management tools.
Attend daily check-ins and meetings with remote teams to set goals and report on tasks.
Be creative and enthusiastic to develop dynamic experiences for the public.
Take initiative to research methods to achieve your goals. Be willing to ask questions.

Ocean Diagnostics Inc. (ODI) is a B.C. based environmental impact company that provides innovative technology, laboratory analysis capabilities and community science tools to sample and analyze microplastics to generate the data needed to influence informed decision making.
