Education Coordinator – Friends Uniting for Nature Society – Victoria, British Columbia

Friends Uniting for Nature (FUN) Society

Is seeking a dynamic Education Coordinator for a permanent position

The Education Coordinator would organize and implement our summer day camps during the summer months, and our FUN Champs Social Change program during the school year. This position would also involve outreach to schools, program development and expansion.

About FUN Society

FUN Society is a dynamic, youth-driven organization dedicated to making learning about the environment and becoming an agent for positive change a fun and rewarding experience. FUN Society is a registered Canadian charity that creates and runs hands-on environmental education programs for kids and youth. We currently operate our FUN Camps and our FUN Champs Social Change Program in Victoria, British Columbia. Our vision is to be a leader in environmental education that inspires people into action, helping to create a world where an aware and educated society works together to create positive change.

FUN Camps are award winning summer day camps for children and youth ages 6 to 16 where each week focuses on a different environmental issue. Theme-based activities are paired with environmental education and adventure activities to help reconnect youth to their environment and inspire them towards action. Each camper also plans a “passion project” – a mini action project designed to make the world better.

The FUN Champs Social Change Program is an awards program that provides local children and youth with the mentorship and financial support they need to turn their dreams of creating a better world into a reality. Each September we will wrap up our FUN Camps with a gala to showcase our amazing campers and share highlights from the summer. At this gala, youth who are particularly passionate about their project idea from the summer can pitch it to a panel of judges. Winners become FUN Champs and are given not only financial support but also a mentor to help make their project a reality over the following year with weekly meetings and monthly group skill building workshops.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, inspiring, and innovative leader to act as Programs Coordinator and share their wisdom and experience with youth, feel ownership over both programs and treat them as their own. The successful candidate will be passionate about the environment as well as working with youth.
