Position Title: Director, Physician Performance Department
Reports To: Medical Director, Physician Performance
Position Type: Permanent – Full Time
Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia serves the public by regulating the province’s medical profession in accordance with the Nova Scotia Medical Act and its regulations. Among other responsibilities, the College licenses physicians to practise medicine, supports high standards of medical practice and investigates complaints about physicians.
Position:
Reporting to the Medical Director of the Physician Performance Department, the Director of Physician Performance directs the development, application of assessment and practice improvement resources across the Physician Performance Department.
The Director, Physician Performance will have an essential role with the College including the following core responsibilities:
Leading the development and implementation of assessment tools necessary for various College programs that will be relevant to the needs of practicing physicians;
Leading the development of programs necessary for the recruitment, training and support of College-appointed accessors and supervisors;
Collaborating with local and national partner organizations in the identification or development of resources appropriate for professional development and practice improvement of physicians working in Nova Scotia;
Representing the College in outside collaborative activities such as meetings, workshops, work groups and research relevant to the mandate of the Physician Performance Department and at the discretion of the Medical Director;
Other responsibilities or assignments as determined by the Medical Director or Senior Management Team.

Required Education and Qualifications:
Graduate Degree (Master’s Degree in Medical or Adult Education)
Minimum of 5 years of experience directly related to the training, assessment and/or remediation of physicians or physicians in training.
Ability to understand and critically appraise literature in terms of currency and relevance to physician performance.
Familiarity with research methods, sufficient to identify research opportunities and collaborate with research partners in their development, execution and interpretation.
