The Development Services Department at the City of Port Coquitlam has an exciting new opportunity for a vibrant and self-motivated individual to join the team as a Development Engineering Technologist. Some of the duties performed by the development Engineering Technologist includes administration, review, processing and regulating land development applications which may include subdivision, building, environmental permits, encroachments and utility company permit applications; review of designs related to land development for conformance to a variety of standards, best practice guidelines and regulations; inspect work performed by contractors, developers, City crews and utility companies on development related construction projects within the City’s rights of way for adherence to and compliance with Engineering standards specified in the subdivision bylaw, regulations, plans, specifications and common construction practice; prepare reports and records related to the job, respond to public concerns related to the development project. The starting salary for this role is $66,441.17.

a diploma in civil and structural engineering technology,
Seven years of combined experience (minimum of one year in each) in design or construction, inspection, and the administration of regulations in a municipal environment (in areas such as land development, environmental, transportation, sewer, waterworks);
experience in the use of computerized engineering applications; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Registered (or ability to register within 1 year) as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC
Registered (or ability to register within 1 year) as a Certified Public Works Inspector 2 (CPWI 2) with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC
Registered (or ability to register within 1 year) as an Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL) with the Erosion and Sediment Control Association of BC (or get within one year)
Completion (or able to complete within one year) of Bylaw Enforcement and Investigative Skills Level I course.
