Associate Registrar (Contract) Student Services Department – Native Education College – Vancouver, BC

NEC Native Education College is a large private Aboriginal college in Vancouver and also works with First Nations and Aboriginal organizations to deliver programs in locations throughout British Columbia. We strive to combine academic excellence with a strong commitment to First Nations community-based education and the best practices of adult education.  NEC is currently seeking an Associate Registrar to fill a leave in the student services department.

Position Summary:

The Associate Registrar works with staff within Student Services including Admissions and Financial Aid to ensure strategic enrollment management.   Specific responsibilities include:  processing all inquiries related to course enrollments; overseeing student academic assessments; maintaining a student database that generates potential student waitlists, class lists, grades, transcripts, schedules; attendance, invoices and statistical reports; and creating all student credential templates. As a member of the student services team you will report to the Dean of Student Services/Registrar who may determine additional duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with three to five years of proven experience in a public post-secondary educational institution.  Experience in supervising staff, preferably in a post secondary institution or equivalent combination of education, training and experience would be preferred.
Experienced in using a student management information database (Banner, GradPro), with an advanced level of computer literacy including MS Office.  Prefer experience in managing administrative projects, working effectively in teams with the ability to work independently.
Maintain confidentiality and initiate action on matters relating to the responsibilities
Proven ability to make discretionary and sound decisions in a high pressure, high volume environment with changing and conflicting priorities while redesigning services and processes to support the provision of excellent customer service
Demonstrated superior communication skills (oral, written and presentation) for clear and tactful relations with students, staff, other colleges/universities, external agencies, and the general public
Strong interpersonal, team building, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Appointment to this full-time contract position will require a formal criminal record check should a recent one not be on file, the details of which may preclude finalizing an offer of employment.  This position is open to male and female applicants.   Preference will be given to qualified Aboriginal applicants.
