Up to 3 Auxiliary Relief Positions
Gordon Head Recreation Centre is seeking up to three certified Aquatic Instructor II / Lifeguards who will be responsible for the safety and enjoyment of participants in aquatic activities and lesson delivery for Canadian Red Cross Water Safety and Life Saving programs. The successful candidates will lead activities, games and events of interest to the participants as well as perform hosting duties. This will also include evaluation of participants; record keeping and public relations. Aquatic Instructor II / Lifeguards will ensure participants are taught according to safety and skill standards outlined by Saanich and Aquatic agencies and that the facility and equipment are in safe, working condition.
Requirements include completion of Grade 10; current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Award; current National Lifeguard Service certification; current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation certification – Level C with AED certification; current Standard First Aid certification; eligibility to obtain the Current Life Saving Society Canada Instructor Award or equivalent; over three months, up to and including six months experience and a satisfactory police information check. Successful candidates will be required to work varying shifts including evenings, weekends and early mornings.
These are C.U.P.E. Local 2011 positions with a wage of $21.04 per hour plus 13% in lieu of benefits. Job description and competition information can be found at www.saanich.ca.
