Academy Instructor Job Description
Plan and implement experiential lessons within the context of the TOI overview, as provided by the Principal and Head of Education of Road Less Travelled Academy.
Maintain communication daily and weekly and 6-week intervals through Fresh Grade.
Ability to communicate with parents outside the context of the academic communication calendar.
Familiar with the creation and implementation of the curriculum.
Assist in the co-creation of RLTA curriculum (following the Ontario Core Curriculum).
Conduct parent interviews every three months.
Develop individualized progress plans to promote student growth and success.
Adhere to RLTA policies and procedures.
Two weeks paid vacation, 5 Emergency Days (death in the family, illness).
During weeks off at the academy, there are an expected 20 hours of work/project to be completed in a digital and or other previously agreed upon format.
Help with the creation and instruction at RLTA Summer Camps.
Report directly to the Head of Education with oversight from the Principal of RLTA.
Collaborate with the team to create world-class innovative education tools and systems.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 4 years of experience working with children.
Standard First Aid/CPR C minimum. Wilderness First Aid, NLS considered an asset.
Post Secondary Qualification: University or College Diploma (ECE, CYW) or other similar qualifications in a related field, or equivalent experience.
OCT certification an asset but not required.
Experience and comfortability with outdoor education.
Experience and knowledge of various alternative education pedagogies or modalities (i.e., Waldorf, Montessori, International Baccalaureate, adaptive learning (A.I.), etc.).
Naturalist knowledge considered an asset.
Open minded and curious about learning.
Experience with Google Drive and using the tools provided in the Google suite.
Values clear communication.
Comfortable in a continuously evolving and adapting organization.
