Job Description:
Waterlution is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team. Headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Waterlution’s small staff team is spread across the country. Waterlution was created to curate social-engagement experiences and training for youth and young professionals to evolve our relationship with water. We create, coordinate and facilitate a variety of projects that give youth, young professionals and community members opportunities to engage with, learn from and innovate for our waters. We are looking to build on our achievements by increasing our online engagement and external communications with our audiences within all of our projects.
Role and Responsibilities:
Create and facilitate engaging social media campaigns & online water education challenges.
Organize virtual Waterlution lunch and learn/information sessions about our various water programs.
Research, write and produce Waterlution Best Management Practices guides and Technical documents around forward-thinking innovations in the water sector.
Analyze Waterlution’s impact through participant survey data and communicate impacts in creative ways online and in newsletters and through soft skills and innovative water management report.
Release a monthly blog on how to evolve your relationship with water, support with other blog posts as needed.
Support Waterlution staff with strategic communications in proposal writing & reporting.
Build Waterlution’s media contacts, prepare and circulate media releases about all projects when the timing is appropriate.
Organize for yourself or other Waterlution staff to be featured as speakers at conferences, on TV shows, podcasts, in magazines and in newspapers.
Increase the engagement of our network and outreach to new audiences to help them engage with Waterlution’s projects.
Assist with managing Waterlution’s social media accounts, manage Waterlutions TechSoup and GoogleAds accounts and efforts.
Develop a variety of document templates that can be used across Waterlution’s projects.
Represent Waterlution and its various projects by facilitating communication among the different groups, provide updates/feedback/project status, act as an advisor, etc. for all communications.
Respond to requests for information.
Provide administrative support as required.
As the Water Communications & Media Coordinator grows into their role and with the Waterlution team, the coordinator will take on more responsibilities within the organization.
Education (Required)
Must have a bachelor’s degree in either:
Communications & Media, with some knowledge or coursework in sciences or water management.
Environmental Studies with some course focus on science communications.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Must love research, have an eye for details and have excellent written and oral communication skills.
Personable, team player, ideally with experience working remotely.
Strong interpersonal skills, listening skills, and judgement.
Strategic, creative problem solver, quick learner, ability to consider a variety of viewpoints.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects while producing high-quality results.
Confident and able to productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside the organization.
Proficient with Google Drive, Gmail and Zoom.
Must have your own computer and phone that you are willing to use for work.
Bilingual (English & French, written, speaking and reading) is strongly preferred but not required.
Fluency, written, speaking and reading in Portugese, Arbic, and/or Spanish is is considered asset.
Work Details:
Work from home environment (during and post COVID restrictions), you will need reliable internet access, and quiet comfortable desk space to work and the ability to remain motivated, responsive and focused in a work-from-home setting.
Adequate privacy for an at-home work environment to have calls with team and others.
Must have a personal computer with a webcam and mic built-in.
Waterlution operates on 7.5-hour workdays. We prefer workdays to fit between 9 am and 5 pm, yet some flexibility can be offered to the selected candidate. Some flexibility will be required of the successful candidate when online events need to be delivered in the evenings or on weekends.
Applicants must be 30 years of age or younger and have not previously participated in a Government of Canada Youth Employment Strategy internship through EcoCanada or Career Launcher (previous participation in the Canada Summer Jobs program is acceptable).
