Position Description
Axiom Zen is a best practices-driven engineering team (committed to continuous deployment, continuous integration, automated testing, etc), looking for talented and startup-minded looking for a sharp and meticulous QA leader with a passion for software quality to join our world-class team — in Vancouver, BC; San Francisco, CA; or Santiago, Chile.
Years of experience don’t matter as much as a demonstrated commitment to quality and passion for building impactful products. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of web or mobile technology, software design patterns and best practices as well as a love for building user-centric products that set new standards in usability and performance.
Among others our recent works leverage node.js; vanilla JavaScript as well as frameworks including Angular.js and backbone; Go; and Swift. We also work with Objective-C, Java, Ruby, Python, and Lisp. Experience in some languages not listed here (Haskell, Erlang..) is a plus, so let us know!
Successful candidates will be responsible for defining and managing the pre-release QA process, writing automated tests and code-reviewing tests written by engineers, and continuously testing, measuring, and improving every process.
Your job will involve writing tests, but more importantly you will be building the tools and frameworks that make tests better. You will be writing code to make the process of development easier and more productive. You will also be reviewing others’ test code, filling in gaps where discovered, and implementing better test coverage across key projects.
About You
2-6+ years experience in a demanding QA role for a dynamic web or mobile application with critical quality, reliability, and ease-of-use requirements
Deep expertise in several existing test automation frameworks
Experience writing automated test code and custom test tools and frameworks
Commitment to agile software development methodologies including TDD, continuous integration, and continuous delivery – familiarity with common tools and alternatives
A love for problem-solving and independent research
Pride in your work and a strong sense of responsibility
Bonus Points:
Proficiency with two or more of the following languages: Objective C, JavaScript, C++, Python, or Ruby
Proficiency with SQL databases for analytics, data mining, test setup, and troubleshooting
Experience with noSQL databases (MongoDB, Neo4j, Riak, etc)
Previous QA experience at successful Silicon Valley startup
BS/MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
