BC Transit is a provincial crown corporation and coordinates the delivery of safe, reliable, cost-efficient and market-focused transit services in British Columbia outside of the Greater Vancouver region. Working in partnership with local governments and private companies, BC Transit provides direct services in fleet acquisition and management, contract administration, transit planning, marketing and financial services.
This position is based in Victoria which is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. Victoria (regional population 330,000) is the capital of British Columbia and a community of choice for many, due to our temperate climate, natural beauty and diverse economic opportunities. Victoria is an international resort destination with a transportation network that includes airport, helicopter and seaplane services, buses, ferry, and cruise ships.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Application Services, the Systems Support Analyst (Payroll and Finance) is responsible for technical support of the corporate Payroll System and other financial systems. The analyst maintains, enhances and develops SQL reports. The Analyst coordinates support with product vendors. The Analyst maintains and enhances the product support documentation library. The analyst provides user training and desk-side support as required for these systems. The analyst is also involved in user requirement analysis and solution design, and may manage small projects.
Skills and Abilities:
3 + years’ experience working in information technology or software development environment
2+ years’ experience developing and supporting SQL reports
Experience working with HR, Payroll or Finance applications
Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as Oracle Discoverer, Crystal Reports, JD Edwards Report Writer, Insight, and SoFi Reports
Knowledge of software development lifecycles
ITIL and COBIT experience and training would be assets
Oracle PL/SQL experience would be an asset
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
This position requires a degree or diploma in Information Technology or Business or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Additional Information:
This is a temporary position anticipated to be required for 18 months.
This position requires the completion of a clear Criminal Record Check.
Testing and assessments will be included as part of the recruitment process.
