Social Planner

As part of the Community Planning team, you will work with a wide range of individuals, communities and organizations in helping to plan for and respond to shifts in a rapidly growing community. You will develop, coordinate and implement social planning polices, programs, events and projects, as well as assist with Council Advisory Committees with a specific focus on social planning and multiculturalism topics and issues. Knowledge of land use and development planning would be considered an asset.

Our ideal candidate will possess excellent presentation and written communication skills, thrive at building and sustaining relationships with a variety of internal and community stakeholders and will have a broad range of social planning experience (i.e., housing affordability, multiculturalism, and community health promotion).  Along with a related Bachelor’s degree, you have a post-graduate degree in Community or Regional Planning, Social Work, Community Development or the Social Sciences, and 3-5 years’ professional experience, preferably in the public sector; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  Membership or eligibility for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners, or another professional association, such as the BC Association of Social Workers and a valid driver’s license is required.
