Salary: $65,000.00 + Bonus based on performance, annually

About the Position:

We are seeking a senior industrial designer specializing in mobile consumer products with a clear experience in the field and an impressive track record in designing products, from conception to production.

Senior Industrial Designer is responsible for leading industrial design projects. As our project are largely in the mobile, wearable and IOT fields, the candidates’ experience must display ability and knowledge specific to those types of projects.  He/She is responsible for leading the design activities from strategy, through concept, detail, specification and documentation phases.

Skills Required:

Strong conceptual design skills and visualization, with an impressive portfolio that demonstrates ability to produce at or beyond the high standards of Pearl.
Strategic approach to solving problems, demonstrated in a clear portfolio.
Designing 3D CAD databases and delivering conceptual and production design in ProE or equivalent software.
Provide design guidance to ensure product design intent, integrity and quality of execution is maintained throughout the development process, including throughout tooling, prototyping and mass production.
Provide design thoughtfulness to collectively solve new product issues including manufacturability, function, appearance, product application, product offering, testing, installation etc.
Guide internal and outside design resources to ensure both the program requirements (deliverables, schedule, etc.) and the design requirements (portfolio integration, aesthetic refinement, product integrity, etc.) are met.
Effectively interface with cross-disciplinary teams including other designers, mechanical and hardware engineers, suppliers etc.
Knowledge of human factors, ergonomics, keen understanding of manufacturing processes.
Ability to observe and analyze the product development process and make suggestions for improvement when opportunities present themselves.
Ownership of project – each team member must clearly show ownership of their task.

Education and Specific Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design.  Exceptional candidates with strong, proven portfolios and experience with rock-solid references will be considered without a degree.
At least three (3) years of specific experience at Tier 1 mobile technology brand such as Samsung, LG and Apple, working on production oriented projects (not just advanced concepts).

Languages Required:  Basic English.  Korean or Mandarin highly desired for interfacing with manufacturers.
