The Position
We are seeking a Senior Digital Fundraiser who is fueled by a passion to build power and win campaigns through small dollar donations, and who’s excited about creating strategic online content & tactics to engage and grow our online community. Reporting to the Digital and Campaign Strategies Director, the Senior Digital Fundraiser will work across highly collaborative teams that include campaigners, organizers, development specialists and other digital staff in Canada and the US.
They will play a leading role in our community giving team and their primary responsibility will be coordinating and growing our online fundraising program. They’ll also play a key role as a digital campaigner on one of our corporate campaigns – for example, helping to transform the shipping industry’s climate impact by accelerating a transition away from toxic fuels.
This is a full-time exempt position with excellent benefits. Salary will be commensurate with experience and location, and will likely be within the range of $55,000-75,000 USD or $58,500-87,750 CAD.
This role will be based in the US or Canada, in Pacific or Mountain time zone (working hours are 9am-5pm Pacific time). At least to start with, the role will be remote from the comfort of the candidate’s own home. Once the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic has passed, we hope there will also be the option to work out of one of our hub offices.
Key responsibilities:
Leading the day-to-day work of the community giving team, meeting our fundraising goals, and designing and implementing strategies to increase both one-time and recurring gifts
Engaging, retaining and growing our online community of 380,000+ activists, donors and online action-takers
Writing compelling fundraising content that mobilizes small donations to power our campaign work
Together with our digital team and Donor Services Associate, working to maintain and improve our online fundraising systems and processes, including donation pages, email, social media platforms, and donor communications
Training campaigners and organizers to think up smart, effective fundraising tactics and craft compelling email fundraising asks
Working as a part of the digital team to develop and execute online mobilization, organizing and fundraising strategies for one of Stand.earth’s corporate campaigns across all digital platforms
Who you’ll be:
Experienced at online donor engagement, with a proven track record executing online fundraising strategies across email and other platforms
An excellent communicator with top-notch writing, copy editing and communications skills
An enthusiastic technologist, with your fingers on the pulse of emerging digital tools and a keen interest in testing and optimizing online content
An adept project manager, who can foster a positive and collaborative team environment while setting and tracking team priorities
Comfortable working in an entrepreneurial, primarily virtual work environment where ideas, experimentation and follow-through are core team values
Familiar with the Leadnow / MoveOn / Avaaz model of online campaigning and experienced using advocacy tools like Engaging Networks, NewMode, Action Network or similar
Passionate about climate justice and environmental protection, and juiced up by the thought of convincing governments and corporations to make meaningful and lasting change
Committed to equity, racial justice, authentic communications, and continual learning
There isn’t a formal educational requirement for the role, and there will be opportunities for learning and professional development.
In addition, it’s nice but not essential for you to have some of the following skills or experiences:
Exprience managing and growing a large email list, either organically or through paid channels
Social media management experience
Knowledge of HTML and CSS
Experience using data and experimentation tools like Google Analytics, Share Progress, Optimizely or similar
Experience working or volunteering on issues of climate, environmental protection and/or environmental justice
Experience in, or knowledge of, community organizing, or experience working closely with communities affected by our campaigning issues, including people at the front lines of extractives mega-projects and in particular Indigenous communities
