Join CivicAction as a Senior Communications Advisor responsible for strategic communications planning and execution including marketing communications, stakeholder engagement, media relations, events management, digital communications, and creative design. In this position, you will have the opportunity to engage with some of the most exciting civic leaders in the GTHA, including senior executives from all sectors.
ABOUT THIS POSITION:
CivicAction is seeking a Senior Communications Advisor with 3 years of communications experience for an 18-month fixed-term contract (with the possibility of extension). The successful applicant will demonstrate the following –

Passion for city building and CivicAction an asset
Experience:
3 years of communications experience in public relations and/or marketing
Media relations expertise with existing relationships with national and local media
Experience working with and providing strategic counsel to senior executives
Managed comms campaigns from beginning to end including writing strategic plans, drafting materials, stakeholder/partner engagement, and reporting
Experienced writer and story teller
Managed the planning and execution of events
Expert in social media strategy and advanced knowledge of social media best practices and tools
Marketing and creative design experience with knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Drupal, MailChimp, Microsoft Office, Salesforce CRM and/or WordPress
Experience procuring and managing external vender relationships
Bachelor’s degree or post-graduate certificate in marketing or public relations an asset
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Communications
Develop and execute a broad range of communications and public relations activities aimed at growing CivicAction’s brand and fostering connections with external stakeholders including media and partners
Work closely with internal colleagues and lead project teams to develop and implement effective communications programs that support strategic goals and brand identity
Lead development of key messages, media releases, backgrounders, newsletters, correspondence, remarks, and other external communications materials
Build and maintain strong relationships with local and national media
Provide advice to senior management on communications, including making strategic recommendations on speaking engagements and media opportunities
Proactively identify media and public relations opportunities
Develop and implement communications processes and tools to create targeted media lists, monitor coverage, and measure the effectiveness of campaigns
Manage digital communications including maintaining all CivicAction websites and social media accounts
Develop and execute multi-platform social media strategies
Monitor and respond to inquiries received via info@civicaction.ca
Marketing and Design
Design high-quality marketing collateral including logos, publications, presentations and signage
Procure and manage external suppliers to produce high-quality marketing collateral including brand identity, logos, video, publications, and signage
Event Planning & Support
Lead event logistics from beginning to end including planning, procuring, invitee engagement, event execution, and reporting
Develop and lead strategic invitation strategies and detailed real-time tracking
Update and maintain a contact management system
Leadership & Teamwork
Work on cross functional teams to deliver initiatives
Work with and lead junior staff and communications interns
Act for the Director of Communications as needed
