Senior Analyst – Investors for Paris Compliance – Toronto

About the position
We are seeking a senior analyst to help support our team. We are expanding the number of companies we are engaging with and need deep background research on them, which includes analyzing their disclosures as well as other publicly-available materials. Research will also focus on cross-cutting issues such as the bond market, private equity, and proxy voting records of investors. This research is then turned into briefing notes and public reports and communications materials. There may also be times when the analyst is called on to join company engagements either in person or online, or to attend public events.

Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct research into financial sector target companies’ net zero track record, including company disclosures and other publicly available materials. This may also include accessing subscription-based data services.
Assist the team with research into cross-cutting issues such as bond issuances and proxy voting records of investors.
Turn research into cogent analysis to inform engagements with the companies and possible shareholder proposals.
Shape research into occasional public reports and into communications products for social and earned media.
Assist with investor outreach during AGM season, setting up meetings and helping to update and maintain an investor database.
Assist with networking with allied organizations, investors, and media outlets to disseminate information.
Collaborate closely with the team on strategy, planning, and internal accountability.

Skills and Experience
5+ years of experience with research/writing projects. Experience in corporate, (especially financial sector) analysis is an asset, but not required if you have an aptitude for it and are willing to learn quickly.
Excellent research, writing, and communications skills.
Demonstrated project management skills including work planning, tracking, and reporting on outcomes. You are details-oriented.
Ability to think critically and make well-informed, timely decisions.
Willingness to be nimble, flexible, and to work closely with a team in good humour.
Background in climate policy issues is an asset.
Contract, Compensation, and Reporting
This is a full time contract, for the period of June 2023 to May 2024, inclusive. The compensation is $80,000 assuming a start date of June 1, and pro-rated beyond that date. There will be a trial period to ensure we fit well together.
You will report to the Executive Director. We work in a flat, collaborative manner with lots of opportunity for shaping strategy and work products.
Location
This role is remote, anywhere in Canada.
