THE LOCATION:
The Sunshine Coast is a vibrant community of approximately 29,000, just a short 40-minute ferry ride from West Vancouver.  The Coast is known for its many outdoor activities and cultural events in addition to being just a short commute to all the amenities of a major urban centre.

THE POSITION:  
The Sunshine Coast Regional District is currently inviting applications for the position of Recreation Program Coordinator (Full-time).  Working within a community development philosophy, this position is responsible for the design, development and monitoring of community programming in the recreation/leisure field; developing educational material and other initiatives to increase public awareness of community recreation issues and participating in various committees.

Candidates must have:

FORMAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Completion of Grade twelve (12) or equivalent.
Completion of a two (2) year post secondary program in recreation or other relevant education from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Valid BC class 5 driver’s licence.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience in the recreation field.
Experience in all aspects of program management, specifically, contract administration and budget management.
Experience in working with the community in a public consultation capacity.

OTHER SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

Strong organizational skills in managing multiple projects and deadlines with a minimum of supervision.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to make presentations to a variety of audiences.
Effective interpersonal skills, specifically a demonstrated ability to proactively develop mutually beneficial working relationships with colleagues, clients and others.
Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office.
