The Royal Canadian Legion, Newfoundland & Labrador Command is seeking a Provincial Command Service Officer (Veterans Advocate) to work from the Command Office, located in Pleasantville, St. John’s, NL.
This is a permanent, part-time position. The successful applicant will represent, counsel and assist veterans and their families, including both retired and serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces and the RCMP as they apply for services, benefits, and programs under Canadian and Allied Veteran legislation; as well as helping those in need of financial assistance from appropriate Benevolent Trust Funds.
Knowledge and or experience of military life style, personnel relations experience, understanding of veterans’ issues, and advocacy, gives you the background we want. This coupled with a keen interest in people, excellent organizational skills, good judgment and a strong ability to communicate orally and in writing, makes you an ideal candidate. Knowledge of the Royal Canadian Legion and the willingness to become a member would be considered an asset.
