Program Assistant (Temporary) – Food Stash Foundation

Job Description:
The Program Assistant is responsible for assisting and facilitating activities associated with Food Stash programs including the Rescued Food Box Program, Pedal to Plate Program, and Food Recovery Program. This position is primarily responsible for: organizing sessions involving sorting, boxing food, and cleaning equipment with our staff and volunteers, collaborating with the Logistics Team Lead to organize food supply in the storage facility, and assisting Food Stash staff with data collection and reporting. The focus of this position is to ensure the programs run smoothly and to support program operations for sustainable growth over time. The successful candidate will be exceptionally organized, an excellent communicator and problem-solver, and able to lead tasks independently while being part of a cohesive and passionate team!

Tasks and Responsibilities:
Assisting with regular duties of the Rescued Food Box and Pedal to Plate program including: sorting, boxing food, cleaning equipment and storage space, organizing inventory, organizing and maintaining storage spaces;
Working alongside and communicating with volunteers;
Assisting Program Coordinator and Program Assistant to ensure KPIs and data tracking of food is maintained; Page 1 of 2
Engaging with volunteer drivers and helping collect orders from fridge;
Contribute to content creation (take photos of day-to-day and share with communications team);
Help receive drivers and bring food into fridge for storage while assisting Logistics Team Lead to manage surplus food;
Assist special projects as needed Education & Experience Requirements
Experience working with vulnerable populations, an asset
Non-profit and/or charity sector experience, an asset
Offer of employment will be conditional upon satisfactory criminal record check

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Requirements
The ability to work independently and as a member of a team
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds comfortably and perform labour intensive tasks
Excellent communicator, both written and verbal
Ability to take initiative and problem solve
