Electricity is generated at 13 facilities and delivered via power lines, substations and terminals to more than 391,191 direct and indirect New Brunswick homes, businesses and facilities. Our group also exports electricity to New England, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

Power Line Designer
One Regular Position
Moncton

A key contributor to our mission of Proudly Serving our Customers, the Power Line Designer is responsible for determining the line design details and field staking of all capital and maintenance projects as well as customer demand work within the region.  Some of the key functions are to:

Provide engineering/line design details for customer demand and capital projects by completing a physical assessment of the job site and entering the details into the computer based line design software.
Interact with the public (customers) and external agencies to determine the most appropriate and cost effective means to provide the customer’s request within NB Power’s policies, practices and standards.
Identify any requirements that must be considered for effective job planning and coordination of field work including work to be done for 3rd parties, consistent with sound engineering criteria and planning in adherence to standards, safety, methods, policies and environment impacts.

The ideal candidate will have a Civil or Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma or one of the following Certificate of Qualifications: Survey Technologist, Distribution System Operator, Power System Operator, Powerline Technician or Staker-Detailer.  The candidate will also have a minimum of one year of experience in responding to customer inquiries and working with an electrical utility or a technical environment.  Due to significant customer interactions, proficiency in both official languages will be required.  An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.

Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
