Lead Geothermal Energy Scientist – Edmonton – Terrapin Geothermics Inc

The minimum qualifications for this position
A doctoral degree in a natural science or engineering field
At least 2 years of post – doctoral research experience.
Comprehensive understanding of the geology of geothermal systems
Working knowledge of power plant engineering
A demonstrated ability to independently formulate, acquire funding for and execute research and development projects.
Excellent public speaking, networking and written communication skills are also required.
The ability to network among government, academia, non – profit and industrial agencies

Specific skills and abilities involved in this position are:
Grant writing experience
Project management skills
Ability to train staff and oversee research and development activities
High – level, multi-disciplinary knowledge of geothermal systems
Specific expertise in one or more areas of geothermal energy research
Ability to lead and perform all varieties of subsurface geothermal development activities
Expert knowledge of standard geothermal evaluation software (i.e. Geoscout, Petrel, Petrasim)

Primary Duties of Research Scientist:
Co-ordinate and supervise geothermal energy research, development activities within Terrapin Geothermics and with external partners
Serve as project manager and day-to-day supervisor for the subsurface development all of the company’s geothermal projects
Acquire funding for company research activities
Develop relevant copyrights and patentable intellectual property from the research results
Serve as a public advocate/ champion for geothermal energy development
Formulate strategic places for on – going geothermal development in Western Canada
Perform consulting services for clients
Expands client databaase
