Junior Program / Administration Officer – Peace Brigades International Canada – Ottawa, ON

Junior Program and Administration Officer (30 hours/week)

Application Deadline: Wednesday August 19, 2015 (7pm EDT)

Start date: September 7, 2015

Peace Brigades International is a global NGO that has been promoting nonviolence and protecting human rights since 1981. PBI-Canada is a country group of PBI, based in Ottawa. PBI provides protective accompaniment, support and recognition to local human rights defenders who work in areas of repression and conflict and are under threat. PBI has active projects in Colombia, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Kenya, Nepal and Indonesia. We advocate at all levels – from the soldier at a local check point to national governments and international bodies like the UN – for human rights accountability and non-violent resolution of conflicts. Our international volunteers on the ground send a powerful message that the world is watching and prepared to act when human rights defenders are threatened. Our work is based on the principles of non-partisanship and non-interference in the internal affairs of the organizations we accompany.
