The City of Terrace is currently looking for qualified applicants to fill the position of IT Technician. Under the direction of the Information Systems Manager, the successful candidate will perform a variety of duties related to the maintenance and support of the City’s Information Systems and its’ users.
Examples of Work Performed:
Troubleshoot a variety of IT and hardware systems to provide solutions
Maintain and update systems documentation in a timely manner;
Review and investigate system logs to proactively avoid system down times;
Maintain backup systems;
Respond to support requests from City staff;
Support Council devices and Council meeting broadcasts;
Attend bi-weekly Council meetings to provide IT support and work occasional evenings and weekends, as required;
Other related duties, as required.
Minimum Training and Experience:
Secondary school graduation;
Two years of post-secondary education in Computer Science or Information Systems Technology (or equivalent in IT related certificates) or a minimum of two years related experience;
Experience supporting server, desktop, network, and peripheral hardware;
Experience supporting client applications such as Microsoft Office;
Able to work independently to accomplish tasks and assignments;
Able to deal effectively with co-workers, customer care representatives, and the public;
Able to demonstrate superior written and oral communication skills;
Able to work under pressure, prioritize and multi-task
Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s Licence.
Job Specific Testing may form part of the interview/selection process.
