IT Support Technician – Town of Truro
Permanent Full-Time Non Union Position

The Town of Truro is currently accepting applications for a permanent full time position of IT Support Technician.  The successful candidate will be self-motivated, people oriented and will provide efficient and effective technical support to all Town departments.

Nature of the position:

Under the direction of the IT Manager, the IT Support Technician is responsible for providing responsive, efficient and effective technical support to staff in all Town of Truro Departments.  The IT Support Technician is responsible for supporting both software and hardware utilized by the various departments, as well as maintaining accurate records of equipment, actions and time spent while providing support.  In addition, the IT Support Technician may be requested by the IT Manager to provide assistance with IT related projects and research. There may be occasions where circumstances or projects occur outside the regular hours of employment.  It is expected that the IT Support Technician will make him or herself available for overtime as required.

Qualifications

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent;
Completion of Information Technology Certificate or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
Proficiency with the usage of iOS products;
Proficiency with the usage of Microsoft products in a network environment;
Strong knowledge of Operating Systems (DOS, all versions of Windows, Linux/Unix, VMware);
Strong technical knowledge including networking, security, TCP/IP, telephony technologies, PC Hardware, RAID Technology;
Knowledge of Municipal Government operations, an asset.
