IT Security and Services Coordinator – School District No 39 – Vancouver, BC

Use your communication, technology, supervisory and problem-solving skills within a fast-paced environment

As a member of the Learning and Information Technology (LIT) division, you will coordinate and evaluate application and system access security requirements as well as service incidents and requests. In addition to supervising the service desk team, you will liaise with district departments, external service providers, application providers and developers, as well as diverse technical teams.

Your strong systems and technology management skills will prove invaluable as you create and maintain standards, procedures and documentation for security access and for service desk systems; provide advanced technical support to LIT members and school and district staff; troubleshoot incidents; fulfill service requests; and provide a range of support activities and services for the enterprise directory database and for network and application audits.

Your ability to supervise and manage employees will assist you as you lead employees within the service desk teams, plan and coordinate projects, and train technical support staff.

A keen interest in research and problem solving will see you take initiative to research and test new technology and functionality, recommend and select new information systems, compile and analyze complex data, compile statistics and identify areas for change, and implement initiatives to improve overall efficiencies.

Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate and deliver information will support you as you liaise with school and district staff about service management applications, systems and application security access requirements, and as you liaise with external groups, including application management service providers, consultants, clients, stakeholders, manufacturers and vendors. Strong oral and written communication will also be essential as you prepare and deliver reports to staff, LIT management, senior management and others. You work well as a team player and will serve as a technical resource on committees and project teams.

A facility with financial information will allow you to help the LIT Leadership Team with budgeting and cost management, and will be useful as you provide advice to staff relating to contract negotiation and vendor evaluation.

You hold a minimum four-year degree in information systems, computer science or business administration and have experience working as an IT professional in roles that require problem solving, supporting technology and/or developing software applications. Your previous positions in large and complex organizations provide you with experience working with staff from diverse departments, and you have direct supervisory experience. Finally, it will be an asset if you have supported and established protocols for Oracle PeopleSoft user profiles and security roles.
