Job Description
IT Operations Engineer will be part of a team that is responsible for 24/7 security operations and ongoing monitoring of various components of client’s IT infrastructure, related troubleshooting and investigations, as well as resolution of security breach incidents. The individual shall have a good work ethic and strong analytical skills. This job gives a great opportunity to enter fast emerging IT security field and get hands-on experience with the latest technologies and various aspects of enterprise IT infrastructure.
Specific Responsibilities
monitor and analyze events, initial diagnostics and troubleshooting of routine incidents as they occur
provide ongoing support to incidents investigation, identify root cause of the problems
document the incidents and create logs in the incident management tools
analyze threat intelligence data and report to appropriate IT group for further investigation
develop, document and follow IT operations processes and standards
develop security reports with a detailed description of the incidents
provide technical assistance to various IT groups on the security issues
research new and emerging security attacks and technology trends and tools
Other duties as required
Required Skills/Qualifications
Post-secondary degree in an IT related field or equivalent of 2+ years of relevant experience
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent work ethic as the job is related to highly sensitive information
Demonstrated knowledge of core IT systems such as networks, databases, applications
Proficiency with Windows and Unix operating systems, firewalls, system logs
Solid written and communication skills
Self-motivated, ability to work with a limited supervision
Experience in IT security operations and applicable certifications is an asset
Experience with incident management tools
Ability to adjust to shift work hours, mix of day and night shifts
Competent to handle routine support tasks/activities, identify/resolve routine problems and follow procedures for more complex issues.
