The City of Merritt is looking for an energetic, dedicated individual to fill the role of Information Technology (IT) Coordinator on our management leadership team. The team’s role is to effectively lead the continuous organizational and process improvement that is part of success in governance and administration.
Merritt is located in the Nicola Valley in South Central British Columbia adjacent to major transportation routes. Forestry, agriculture and tourism are economic drivers. Major improvements in hydro-electric supply and connectivity have enhanced opportunities for industrial and manufacturing growth. Merritt is centrally located between Kamloops (.75 hrs.), Kelowna (1.5 hrs) and Vancouver (2.5 hrs), affordable and active lifestyle make it a great place to live.
This position reports to the Director of Finance & IT. The IT Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and protecting all information systems and data in the City. This includes but is not limited to networks and servers, computers on the network, phone systems including mobiles, and other peripheral devices. The IT Coordinator is the key liaison with software and hardware providers.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of a two year certificate or diploma program focused on information technology
Microsoft certificate MCSE is an asset
Complete working knowledge in operating MS SQL, MS Office, MS Exchange, and website management software
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated technical competence
Experience in a municipal environment is considered an asset
