Job Description
Our company is seeking an in house graphic designer to design and execute various graphics projects for a 3 month contract. The ideal candidate is autonomous and knowledgeable in graphic design as well as print and digital content. They will have strong demonstrated experience in designing and developing web and printed publications such as brochures and associated layouts and have proficiency in graphics and multimedia software packages.
Responsibilities
Design elements for print and web products
Develop creative design concepts for standard and custom projects including but not limited to brochures, inserts, folders, displays, signage and web files
Manage various projects from beginning to end
Work closely with department heads to execute a variety of creative assignments, from concept development through to finished product
Participate in project pitch and brainstorm sessions
Prepare finished projects for commercial printing (including high resolution files and imagery, colour profiles, file set-up and packaging for press)
Maintain a database of images and artwork in a clear, organized and timely manner
Ensure design projects are accurate, on-brief, high quality and delivered on time and on budget
Qualifications and Experience
Excellent command of the English language
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Required to have strong graphic design, typography as well as strong writing skills (plain-language writing).
A qualifying degree or diploma in Graphic & Web Design or 2+ years of work experience
Educational background in visual arts an asset
Proficiency in Adobe design programs
Ability to take direction and also work independently
A flexible attitude towards changing priorities
Ability to adapt quickly if direction or strategy changes
Able to meet tight deadlines
Must have your own computer with applicable programs
