The City of Pitt Meadows is seeking a permanent, part-time (50%) Graphic Designer to join the Communications Team. Do you want to explore your creativity? If the answer is yes, and you are excited to produce graphic and visual materials to support municipal departments, special events and arts and culture initiatives for the City of Pitt Meadows, we are looking for you to join our dynamic team.
As a creative communicator and utilizing your strong web and graphic art skills, you will work with staff across all municipal departments to conceptualize and produce graphic arts and a variety of visual materials. You will also coordinate and post website content, including social media accounts. Writing experience is an asset.
Reporting to the Manager of Communications and Community Engagement, this position is responsible for the design and preparation of graphic materials such as brochures, posters, flyers, reports, advertisements, banners, infographics and signage. The successful applicant will also develop, author and edit content for the web, social media, interactive applications, email marketing, and web-directed collateral. Responsibilities include interpreting and clarifying design requests; identifying objectives and developing and recommending graphics concepts suited to a particular need or project; as well as providing rough layouts and final design.
The successful candidate will have completion of a two year diploma in graphic design plus sound related experience in graphic design and digital media or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Advanced proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator etc.), Microsoft Office and other related social media tools is required. Experience updating corporate websites working within a content management system and HTML would be considered an asset.
This position will appeal to applicants who can commit to a permanent part time, flexible schedule. This is a CUPE position with a salary range of $29.96 – $35.29 per hour, plus 10% in lieu of benefits.
