Temporary Full Time Position
Up to 14 months (Nov 2015 – Dec 2016)

The District of Saanich is seeking a temporary full time GIS Analyst. The successful candidate will support core GIS responsibilities including the update of key spatial data in a large enterprise SDE geodatabase and support of operational maintenance data capture by field staff using infraMAP and ArcPad mobile GIS.  GIS support is provided regularly to the organization as well as external customers, and strong attention to detail, problem solving abilities and communication skills are vital. This position requires a sound knowledge of GIS principles, standards and methods especially for municipal infrastructure, and proficiency with Esri’s ArcGIS suite of products, particularly ArcGIS Desktop and Mobile. A broad array of GIS skills are needed including SDE data compilation, storage and manipulation, advanced editing in a versioned SDE environment, geometric network editing, relational database management, quality control, and mapping. This is a challenging and rewarding position where learning and collaboration are encouraged.

Requirements include a degree in Geography, Computer Science or related discipline with an emphasis on GIS, 3 years direct experience in the field of GIS with an emphasis on utilization of Esri products, and a valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
