Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician
1 Permanent Position

The CSRD is seeking an energetic team player who works well with co-workers and colleagues to join our IT team as the GIS Technician.

Under the general direction of the Manager of Information Systems and receiving work direction from the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst, the GIS Technician will perform a variety of general and specific local network technical duties and will provide technical support for the CSRD internet and intranet sites, and ensures the Network infrastructure performs properly.

This is a full time Union position and is subject to the provision of the Collective Agreement with CUPE. The salary range for this position is $1,750.13 to $1,934.61 bi-weekly (2014 Collective Agreement rates). The hours of work for this position are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Qualifications:
Ideal candidates for this position will:

have the ability to exercise sound judgement and work independently and as part of a team.;
have the ability to complete work in an accurate and timely fashion;
have excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask;
have strong technical assessment, analytical skills and the ability to follow up;
have experience in web application development using a variety of platforms (e.g. ArcGIS Online, Geocortex Essentials, and Google Maps as well as ArcMap and all Esri Products as they relate to both local and web mapping);
have working knowledge of geographic information systems including Arclnfo, Arcview, FoxPro, as well as MS Office software;
have familiarity with legislation and practices associated with geographic information systems;
have completion of a recognized post-secondary diploma in geography, GIS technology, information technology or a related field plus a minimum one (1) year directly related experience.
