Filming Coordinator – City of New Westminster – New Westminster, BC

SALARY:     $28.91 – $34.01 per hour

The Parks, Culture and Recreation Department is seeking an outgoing and organized individual that thrives on time sensitive multitasking duties related to promoting filming, negotiating and issuing permits, and mitigating filming impacts within the City of New Westminster. Our successful applicant must be solution focused and able to work effectively with filming production companies, numerous City departments, New Westminster residents, merchants, community organizations, as well as Creative BC. Responsibilities include promoting filming within New Westminster and increasing capacity in under utilized areas; receiving and processing filming permits based on City policies and fee schedules; mitigating filming impacts on the community; liaising and communicating with production companies, community stakeholder, City departments and residents; coordinating services and monitoring filming activity; and preparing and maintaining reports, statistics and researching best practices.

Requirements include:

Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by related post secondary courses plus related experience preferably in a municipal setting. Preference will be given to applicants who possess a diploma or degree in Communications, Marketing or a related field.
Knowledge and experience with filming and municipal environments.
Ability to problem solve, negotiate and act quickly in a changing environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.
Ability to respond to complaints from community stakeholders and positively resolve issues.
Ability to document and archive accurate and comprehensive files (electronic and paper) and provide detailed filming statistics.
Ability to research, write and implement City policies, bylaws and regulations as related to municipal filming.
Ability to meet the needs of production companies and facilitate successful filming permits.
Ability to use Microsoft Office applications and to use and/or learn industry standard and specialty software applications.
Valid BC driver’s license and personal vehicle available for use at work.

* Flexibility in the work schedule is required and may include evening or weekend commitments. This regular part-time position will provide a minimum of 17.5 hours per week and increase based on the volume of filming and will require scheduling flexibility within the work week.
