The City of Penticton is seeking a highly motivated team player to fulfill the position of Engineering Technologist providing technical support and assistance in the Engineering Department team.
In this diverse role, tasks will include subdivision and building permit review, development and administration of maintenance programs and associated contracts, lead or provide technical support on a variety of construction projects, you will provide drafting services using AutoCad Civil 3D, prepare estimates, technical memorandums and reports.

The ideal candidate for this job will have the following:
Minimum of a two year diploma in Civil Engineering and related practical experience
Eligibility for membership in Applied Science Technologist or Technician (ASTT) of BC or Association of Professional Engineers of BC
Knowledge of computer applications including AutoCAD Civil 3D, ESRI GIS Software, and Microsoft Office Products
Knowledge of civil engineering practices, surveying, drafting, design techniques and municipal construction specifications, methods and techniques including knowledge of the Master Municipal Construction Documents (MMCD) standards and specifications
Knowledge of provincial regulations and municipal bylaws related to the design of city streets and utilities, “Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Canada” and “Geometric Design Standards for Canadian Roads and Streets”, city road patterns and classifications, traffic control design and traffic signing
Ability to read engineering plans, and design various City projects including survey layouts, material calculations and detailed cost estimates
Knowledge of safe work practices related to equipment, tools and work in roadways
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Excellent people skills
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
