Educational Tourism Program Development Intern
Phew that job title is a mouthful. What does and Educational tourism development intern do.
The intern will develop and improve the educational, training, certification and tourism ability of the Elk Lake Eco Centre, resulting in strong year round programming. The intern will also liaise with existing groups and coordinate regional programming initiatives.
NOHFC Internship Criteria:
To be eligible for the position you must have graduated from an accredited university or college within the last 3 years. Be under the age of 29. Hiring approval is based on Northern Ontario Heritage Fund qualifications and funding
Our semi remote centre is located at the architecturally award winning Elk Lake Eco Centre; the back door to Temagami. The successful intern will be afforded the opportunity to:
Work on unique projects from inception to completion
Participate in development and design brainstorming
Play outside with great people
Work with an open minded not for Profit Company who truly values your contribution.
Work with other non profit groups to further collective goals.
Assist in the creation of fresh solutions to old (and new) problems
Job Requirements:
Post-secondary degree in Outdoor Recreation / Education, Adventure Tourism / Business, or equivalent.
Possess instructor status in at least one outdoor activity, ie kayaking, cross country skiing, canoeing, NLS,
Strong oral and written communication skills
Understanding of Northern Ontario issues and tourism
Ability to recommend innovative solutions and think outside of the box.
Love playing in Northern Ontario
Have transportation
Work flexible hours and be willing to travel.
Bilingualism is an asset
This is a 12 month contract position.
