Education Program Co-ordinator – Ontario Co-operative Association – Guelph, Ontario

Job Summary: As an Education Program Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for promoting and developing On Co-op’s award-winning All 4 Each (“A4E”) education program. A4E teaches students about the co-operative distinction. Sustainability, democracy, social justice and community are not just ideals; they are the principles which set co-operative organizations apart from others. In addition to promoting and developing the curriculum of this program, you will also be responsible for expanding its reach, and soliciting delivery partners and sponsorships. To excel in this role you need to be an effective relationship builder, an efficient organizer, a convincing salesperson and a visionary curriculum developer.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop, implement and monitor strategies to promote and support the A4E objectives and activities contained within the Ontario Co-operative Association’s Balanced Scorecard.
Develop, introduce and maintain a flexible sponsorship, franchisee, renewal, delivery partner and consulting model that meets or exceeds annual profitability targets.
Provide excellent customer service to sponsors, franchisees and delivery partners.
Create and manage a professional development program for presenters, trainers and facilitators.
Create and write one English-language A4E module or equivalent resource per fiscal year.
Create interest for franchising the program within Canada and internationally.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and manage an annual A4E budget that projects a surplus after wage costs.
Develop an annual workplan, with milestones and reporting timelines.
Create and maintain A4E policies and procedures, including those that manage risk and resolve issues around multiple delivery partners or overlapping interests in geographical regions.
Identify and execute additional fee-for-service opportunities that build on A4E or lead to the formation of school- or community-based youth co-operatives.
Collaborate with the Communication and Events Manager to create and implement a communication and marketing plan.
Collaborate with On Co-op staff to develop strategies that create synergies between A4E and other organizational activities and programs.
Assist in the planning and implementation of any Create-A-Co-op-Challenge events.
Collaborate with the Education Manager to create and execute the design, illustration and printing of curriculum, presentations and promotional resources.
Investigate, develop and submit funding or grant proposals for A4E or closely-related youth engagement activities consistent with the Balanced Scorecard.
Foster youth-related mentoring and co-op incubation and development.
Research and consult with educators regarding the most current practices and teaching methods taking place in secondary and post-secondary schools.
Support and promote a strong staff team culture and participate in staff meetings, and organizational and sector events.

Education and Experience:

Post-secondary education related to education, social or community development with three years minimum experience, or five years related work experience in youth leadership or youth program development.
Strong sales and relationship-building skills.
Knowledge of educational theory and techniques, including curriculum development, consistent with contemporary learning needs.
Experience in project or program design, development, implementation and evaluation.
Very strong oral and written communication skills.
Very strong interpersonal, facilitation and presentation skills.
Strong administrative and organizational skills.
Strong problem solving and conflict management skills.
Proven leadership skills.
Ability to work independently and also in a team environment.
Proficiency in utilizing social media and Microsoft software.
A sound knowledge of co-operatives, and/or experience in a non-profit, membership-based or co-operative environment is required.
Familiarity with CYL and All 4 Each programs a strong asset.
Experience in drafting funding proposals and grant management an asset.

Working Conditions:

A desk, computer, telephone and reasonable office equipment and support will be provided at the
On Co-op offices in Guelph, Ontario.
Participation in off-site events will be required.
Out-of-town travel, generally within the province, is required.
Overnight travel and/or evening and weekend work will occasionally be required.
This is a salary-plus-commission based position.
