Green Teacher magazine is looking for a summer student to take on the role of ebook editor and designer. Green Teacher is a small non-profit magazine that focuses on delivering exciting new ideas and activities in the sphere of environmental education. This job is an eight-week crash course for someone who is eager to learn about all aspects of running a quarterly magazine: editorial, circulation, marketing and advertising. One minute they might be working on a marketing promotion, the next minute they might be editing an article. There is a special focus for this position on publishing our latest ebook, the selected individual will have the chance to take an ebook from start to finish. You may also be called upon for help with the Summer issue of our magazine. This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs and pays $12/hour for 30 hours per week for a total of eight weeks. You need to be a full time student intending to return back to school in the fall of 2015.
Duties include:
Editing and updating articles
Layout of ebook in both epub and pdf format
Create promotional materials
Devise a social media plan/schedule related to the ebook
Editing and finding new images to illustrate articles
Skills
Studying Journalism or media
Strong command of InDesign, Photoshop, WordPress, Facebook, Twitter, Hootsuite etc.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Strong editing skills
Ability to speak French or Spanish is considered a strong asset
