Organization Overview
Pacific Wild Alliance is a non-profit organization that works to study and protect wildlife and their habitat in the Great Bear Rainforest. Located between Bute Inlet on B.C.’s south coast and the Alaskan panhandle, this region contains a significant portion of the world’s remaining intact temperate rainforest and is also home to one of the most biologically rich, yet fragile coastlines on Earth.
Pacific Wild is committed to:

Job Summary
Pacific Wild is a small non-profit with a dedicated and hardworking team of creative individuals who are driven by a passion for wildlife and wild places. You will be part of a team of conservationists working to protect the Great Bear Rainforest through Pacific Wild initiatives such as stop the trophy hunt, end the wolf kill, no tankers, LNG, and other campaigns. We are seeking a director who will be responsible for: handling visual content and design of various communications platforms, including our website, social media outlets, digital media, print media and newsletters; and planning, development and implementation of Pacific Wild’s communications activities, both external and internal. This includes maintaining multiple ongoing conservation campaigns while coordinating at the strategic and tactical levels with the Pacific Wild team.
Principal Responsibilities
Creating, implementing and measuring the success of a comprehensive communications program that reflects Pacific Wild’s image, message, and position through various media platforms;
Daily maintenance of multiple social media platforms, website, print and digital media both external and internal;
Creating, implementing and maintaining a social media calendar for the year while remaining responsive to current events related to conservation issues Pacific Wild is engaged in;
Managing and executing online fundraising activity;
Implementing and tracking analytics across all digital platforms that will continuously inform how to best position Pacific Wild’s presence within the digital and online media space;
Designing, writing and executing unique digital content, including newsletter stories, daily social media posts, website copy, and email campaigns that connect readers to our initiatives;
Liaising with media outlets to distribute communications and imagery;
Working closely with the team to develop current content and run effective conservation campaigns throughout the year;
Performing other duties as required.
Qualifications
Required:
Very strong verbal and written communications skills;
Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal communications skills;
Experience and proficiency using photo and video editing software;
Solid proficiency in the following software/platforms or equivalent:
Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Hootsuite, Indiegogo, Change.org;
Photoshop or Lightroom, Final Cut Pro or Premiere Pro;
Experience overseeing the design and production of print materials and publications;
Computer literacy in word processing, database management and page layout;
Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams within Pacific Wild;
Knowledge of coastal First Nations issues and ability to work under established protocols with First Nations on some campaigns and programs.
Organizational skills: ability to plan, manage and maintain multiple projects at once;
Occasional out-of-town, overnight travel is required to the Great Bear Rainforest.
Experience:
Experience in digital communications with demonstrated success, preferably for non-profits;
Degree in Communications or similar discipline with a background in conservation, or vice versa;
Experience working in a fast-paced dynamic environment with a small team;
Demonstration of independence and ability to think critically and creatively.
Terms
This is a full-time contract position.
Hours are flexible but consistent and include work outside of standard business hours.
This is a virtual position but with some time spent at our office on Denny Island, B.C.
Compensation commensurate with experience.
