Reporting to the General Manager, Finance and IT and working collaboratively with the Senior Management Team across City Departments, the Director, Information Technology develops and implements innovative technologies in visioning the City’s electronic data potential. The Director provides strategic leadership, direction and structure for the citywide technology platforms in order to ensure and enhance City services, productivity, transparency and engagement.
The Director works inclusively with relevant stakeholders to support the alignment of all City technology including the accountability, responsibility and oversight for complex technical, leadership and administrative work in the planning, support, development, installation and sustainment of technology systems. This role leads approximately 100 staff (both union and non-union) as well as establishes and nurtures key relationships with outside consultants, subject matter experts, vendors, and contractors.
The successful candidate will hold a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Computer Science or a related field (and/or will have equivalent experience). S/he will have eight (8) plus years of related experience in progressive leadership roles in complex organizations (preferably including experience in the public sector) with strong business acumen and technical understanding.
