Responsibilities
As the digital engagement coordinator, you will develop original content and suggest creative ways to share the work of WTC, partner organizations, and other local changemakers. (Note: You will not be expected to solely manage all of the below in this role. You will be supported by others on the team with complementary skill sets!)
Create content, copy and graphics to engage with WTC’s digital audiences in line with our vision, mission and values
Support the campaigns team to create original content and promote important issues for all women and girls in cities
Research current audiences and discover trends, measure social traffic and monitor analytics/insights
Provide advice and suggestions on ways to improve WTC’s digital presence and engagement
Update WTC website
Support work on the Women Friendly Cities Challenge including some research and writing
Support the WTC monthly e-newsletter, and other email marketing as needed
Develop an optimal posting schedule, considering web traffic and audience engagement metrics
Work with volunteers to use social media in a cohesive and beneficial way
Facilitate online conversations with audience and respond to queries
Skills & Experience
Intersectional feminist committed to anti-oppression, anti-racism and decolonization
An eye for design to create engaging text, image, and video content across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok
Strong copywriting skills and can tailor messages specific to various projects and platforms
Experience writing engaging email copy
Be able to use tools such as Canva, Agorapulse, Later, Linktree, Wix, Google Analytics, and more (if you don’t know how to use all of these that’s fine, let us know which ones you’re comfortable with)
Adapt and thrive in an autonomous, remote team
Experience with social media and digital engagement
Support & Development
This role reports to WTC’s incredible Digital Project Manager, Steph Oey
Join in on any training and development opportunities for WTC staff, board and volunteers
Up to $4,000 training and development bursary to be used to develop digital skills
Specifics
Working from a home-office, with occasional working together in a co-working space once safe to do so
$30 an hour (+4% vacation pay)
30 hours a week until 31 March 2024 (negotiable)
After the first 6 months of the role, opportunity to continue at 10-15 hours a week, or more depending on funding availability
Two weeks of leave (unpaid), and two weeks compassionate leave (paid) annually

Lower Mainland preference, but role can be based anywhere in Canada
Ideal start date is before 7 September (can be discussed)

Intern Eligibility Criteria
This position is funded by the Digital Skills 4 Youth program.
To be eligible for DS4Y, interns must meet the following criteria:
post-secondary graduates, who are up to 30 years, or younger, at the start of the internship;
legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e. Canadian citizen, permanent Resident or person who has been granted refugee status); and,
self-assess as underemployed, meaning they are employed below their level of education, outside their field of study, or hold part-time employment.
In the north (Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut), eligible participants may be youth between 15 to 30 (inclusive) years who are legally entitled to work in Canada and self-assess as under-employed.
There are no exceptions to this eligibility. Please only apply for the position if you meet these criteria.
