RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage social media channels for Swim Drink Fish’s flagship brands to ensure consistent and responsive engagement with the Swim Drink Fish community.
Create and deliver mass emails to Swim Drink Fish community members to engage them in the movement.
Assist with a significant update to http://www.swimdrinkfish.ca.
Assist with the launch of new community engagement features on The Swim Guide and development of features on Great Lakes Guide.
Create content for Swim Drink Fish websites such as http://www.theswimguide.org to help attract and engage community members.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applications from candidates with the following qualifications will be considered:
Experience managing social media account(s) for an organization or campaign
Experience creating and delivering messages with an email service like Mailchimp, Pardot, Squarespace Email Campaigns, etc.
Excellent writing skills, including the ability to synthesize information, explain complex scientific or social messages in plain language, an engaging tone, and copy-editing skills.
OTHER RELEVANT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
These are not formal requirements for the position, but may help you succeed in your role as the Digital Community Specialist. If you have skills or abilities in these areas, please highlight them in your application:
Basic design skills to help you manipulate images or create simple infographics for social media and website posts.
Basic video editing skills.
Familiarity with water quality issues.
An interest in activities that get you onto the water, like swimming, paddling, sailing, hiking, photography, camping, citizen science, surfing, etc.
Experience working for a nonprofit.
Organizational skills like content calendar management and design asset management.
The ability to work well with a team, to listen to ideas and different voices and reflect those perspectives in your writing.
A genuine enthusiasm for community engagement, including an appreciation for dialogue, community feedback, interviewing people, sharing other people’s stories, etc.
