The Toronto Environmental Alliance (TEA) campaigns locally to find solutions to Toronto’s urban environmental problems. A not-for-profit organization, we advocate on behalf of all Torontonians for a green, healthy and equitable city. The Digital Communications Intern position is designed to provide support in the development and management of TEA’s digital communications to help engage TEA supporters and the general public.
Duration: 16 weeks
Hours: 40 per week
Pay: $16.00/hr
Dates: June 8 – October 2 (some flexibility on start and end dates)
Specific Responsibilities:
Helping to develop social media communications strategy for campaigns and projects
Helping draft and source content for daily social media postings (with guidance from relevant staff for content)
Helping draft, post and proof-read content on project websites related to specific campaigns, and assisting with other website updates and maintenance
Assist with compiling and analyzing metrics for online engagement
Preparing infographics and other designed content to be used on our website and other materials
Assisting other staff with member communications and creative new engagement strategies
Other duties as required
Qualifications
Experience and/or education in communications, social media, or marketing, preferably in the non-profit sector
Knowledge of digital communications including social media platforms and how different digital channels are used to communicate with different audiences
Interest/knowledge of environmental issues
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong interest and/or awareness in environmental issues
Preferred experience in graphic design and/or working with Adobe Photoshop, HTML and Google Analytics
The successful candidate will gain experience working with TEA’s database NationBuilder, and also build skills related to digital communications within a non-profit setting. This is also an opportunity to learn about digital mapping for projects using Google Maps and NationBuilder tools.
