Digital Campaigner – Greenpeace Canada – Montreal, Quebec

Greenpeace Canada is seeking a Digital Campaigner who, under the direction of the Senior Digital Strategist and in close collaboration with the wider Mobilization and Supporter Journey Teams, will collaborate with project teams to identify key opportunities for supporter impact and engagement within a campaign/project theory of change, all the while growing our movement of Greenpeace supporters.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Acting as the principal digital campaigner on projects to deliver engaging, innovative and effective online campaigns that meet the goals of GPC’s organizational plan and Mobilization strategy (including Program and Fundraising and Engagement goals)
Working within project teams, design and implement strategies to mobilize new supporters to build campaign power and strengthen the Greenpeace movement, while also constructing engaging supporter journeys to build supporter leadership in a campaign. This could include:
Developing credible actions for supporters that support the project’s theory of change, moving the campaign forward
Developing the digital narrative and email story that will deepen supporter engagement in a project
Ensuring all communication and digital strategy across campaigns aligns with the objectives of the overarching digital and mobilization strategies.
Ensuring all digital activity supports progress towards digital team KPIs (especially mobilization and fundraising/lead generation goals)
Writing innovative, engaging, and compelling, web content and emails to trigger action and deepen engagement.
Managing GPCs online social networks and communities, including moderating, creating content, encouraging conversation deepening engagement and growing communities.
Remain informed of innovation, developments and trends in the digital advocacy space, working with the team to test as appropriate and expanding the GPC internal body of knowledge. Proactively engage with Greenpeace’s global digital community to share and learn best practices.
Mentoring and coaching staff on the most effective use of digital properties as campaigning and communications tool.
Coordinating with the digital team to manage the content publishing schedule, coordinate publishing priorities and negotiate with other departments across the website, email list and social media.
With the Head of Communications and Digital Mobilization and Senior Digital Strategist lead the development, planning and implementation of GPC’s content strategy and digital editorial calendar.
Reporting on the effectiveness of GPC’s online presence and engagement through regular reporting and analysis of metrics.
Identifying campaign communication key opportunities for web target audiences. Seek to build linkages between digital and offline opportunities for action.
Conducting other projects as agreed with the Head of Communications and Digital Mobilization and/or the Senior Digital Strategist
Managing the reporting, tracking and evaluation of specific digital campaign strategies in consultation/coordination with the Data Strategist
Ensuring all online activities comply with usability and best practice guidelines.
Performing other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bilingual in English and French;
Deep understanding of digital strategy and online community management;
Knowledge and experience with various web development technologies and design programs;
Previous experience in lobbying, campaigning or advocacy;
Knowledge of environmental issues and the environmental sector;
Knowledge of the overall goals and intent of Greenpeace;
Previous experience creating, managing and updating web content;
Highly tuned organizational, administrative and time management skills;
Developed research and analytical skills;
Previous experience developing creative online campaign solutions;
Experience contributing to a culture of excellence and innovation by actively sharing knowledge and striving for continuous improvement;
Finely tuned verbal and written communications skills;
Experience working in cross departmental teams within a diverse and multi-cultural environment;

You will work with colleagues in Canada and some travel may be necessary. Evening and weekend work is sometimes required.

Candidates should understand and support Greenpeace campaign tactics, including the use of peaceful civil disobedience. All candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
